DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The associate director-multi-cultural recruitment builds and sustains relationships with schools, community organizations, and other agencies working with under-represented students and first-generation students. The associate director will be part of an admissions effort intended to attract and enroll a diverse and global student body who will flourish in Hampshire’s unique academic model, bring new perspectives to the campus and classroom, and continue Hampshire’s half-century commitment to inclusivity. In addition to managing and recruiting in an assigned geographic territory, the associate director will manage two admissions counselors/assistant directors of admissions to enable them to execute their portfolio assignments, maximize recruitment efforts in their own territories, and provide guidance to further expand Hampshire’s multi-cultural recruitment. The associate director will also serve as lead person for Fly-In Programs and visit days targeting first-generation students and students of color and will also be the lead admissions office representative to the committee that selects and oversees the College’s James Baldwin Scholars Program. The associate director will work closely with the dean of admissions and director of financial aid to determine aid awards and to select recipients for institutional grants, including the College’s Opportunity Grants. As part of its recruitment effort, the office of admissions partners with agencies who help analyze predictive data. The associate will be part of the team working closely with these agencies to identify strategies for outreach and enrollment. Lastly, the associate director will work to build lasting and meaningful bonds with schools, non-profits, and community organizations working with youth in the surrounding communities of Holyoke, Springfield, and Chicopee, Massachusetts.
