Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a media labs specialist to join the library media services team.

Reporting to manager of media services, the media labs specialist is responsible for managing multiple computer labs, classroom A/V projection, equipment circulation, and training and support for students, faculty and staff within the Hampshire community. The specialist works closely with faculty of the Film, Photography and Video program, as well as library and IT staff, to maintain facilities at the Jerome Liebling Center, which includes computer workstations across labs, suites, classrooms and small theater. As part of the media services team, the media labs specialist will assist with circulation and maintenance of production equipment and provide internal and external classroom workshops on lighting, sound, and camera operation.  This position is responsible for maintaining accessibility of media production resources of the College which requires working closely with students, faculty and staff of varying abilities from novice to advanced.

Bachelor’s degree with one-year of job-related experience is required.   The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, work well collaboratively, have some teaching experience, enjoy working with students, and be enthusiastic about film, photography and video production. Successful candidate should be familiar with digital photo, film, and video production techniques, best practices for computer networking, management of software license subscriptions and updates, hardware troubleshooting as well as be able to teach workshops on the common media production applications from the Adobe Suite to Final Cut. Familiarity with A/V equipment for theatrical, gallery and classroom use is a must. Candidate must successfully work across generations and bring kindness, respect, and empathy into the workplace. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds, and empowering students of all abilities is essential.
