Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a house manager to support the operations of the President's home.

The house manager’s priority is to ensure the smooth operations of the President's home and to facilitate the comfort of the President and the President's family.  Household duties include housekeeping tasks, running errands, coordinating events at the President’s home, and ensuring proper maintenance of the home and grounds. The house manager is responsible for managing the household calendar as well as monitoring purchases and the payment of bills. The house manager communicates with the President and the President's family on a daily basis and must be adept at understanding and anticipating whatever may be needed. This position also interfaces regularly with office staff, guests, visitors, vendors, and others.

A high school diploma with two years of job-related experience is required.  Ideal candidate should have the ability to balance the appropriate level of quality needed for the President's household alongside budget limitations. Candidate must be able to anticipate household needs, multi-task and set priorities, and adapt to changing and changeable circumstances.  The house manager should possess problem-solving skills,  resourcefulness, and absolute integrity and trustworthiness.  As someone who works in the private spaces of the President and the President's family, the house manager must be sensitive to household dynamics,  maintain absolute discretion and confidentiality, uphold a professional demeanor, and be unobtrusive as well as convey warmth and hospitality. A commitment to working with a diverse population is essential. This position requires flexibility with  the work schedule, which includes occasions that may occur outside the regular work week. The house manager must possess a valid drivers license and have their own transportation. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. is a must.
