Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and a member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for community volunteer  manager in the office of admissions.

The community volunteer manager will take a leadership role in cultivating support for Hampshire College by building and strengthening relationships with a diverse base of campus community members including but not limited to: current students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of the College. This individual will be responsible for developing and managing an Admissions Ambassador Program with the alumni volunteer manager which will recruit alumni and community volunteers to assist with recruitment and yield efforts. The program will offer various levels of membership to ambassadors along with a variety of diverse opportunities to get involved. The community volunteer manager will recruit and vet a small group of volunteers to help with active recruiting that will include activities like traveling to local high schools and community based organizations, conducting interviews, and organizing on and off-campus recruiting events. They will also recruit and vet a larger group of volunteers who agree to act as brand ambassadors and social media amplifiers who will participate in activities such as filling out surveys about their time at Hampshire, writing short testimonials about the life after Hampshire, and reposting stories on social media. The community volunteer manager will maintain a portfolio of individual relationship prospects, and will conduct independent outreach and personal visits to cultivate affinity with the College. Working with a high level of independent skill and judgement, this position will spearhead volunteer management and training. They will work closely with the Director of Alumni and Family Relations and will attend alumni events whenever possible. The manager will work closely with the director of alumni and family relations and will attend alumni events whenever possible; work with the director of enrollment strategy and operations to build out a portal in the Technolutions Slate CRM to track volunteer engagement and communication; and collaborate with the office of institutional research and the Career Options Research Center to distill and synthesize information on outcomes.

A bachelor’s degree is required with a minimum of two years of job-related experience. Applicants must have demonstrated ability to recruit, engage and manage volunteers and a proven ability to build and strengthen relationships with diverse constituents.  Qualified candidate should possess creativity, a high level of interpersonal communication skills, and strong computer, communication, and writing skills. Applicants should be results-oriented, energetic individuals who can work in a fast-paced environment; have effective decision-making skills and customer service experience; and be flexible and adaptable to changing environments. Candidate must have effective public speaking and presentation skills; a belief in the value of a liberal arts education and passion for Hampshire's unique educational philosophy with ability to knowledgeably communicate that uniqueness. They must be superbly organized; task and project oriented; and must be able to work independently and juggle multiple tasks frequently without advance warning. The alumni volunteer manager must be comfortable navigating challenging conversations; have a commitment to being a part of the larger Hampshire community; be receptive to feedback; and take initiative to solve problems as they arise. Experience with the Technolutions Slate platform or a similar CRM is strongly preferred.  Supervisory experience is necessary.  A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential. This position requires a valid driver’s license and must successfully meet the requirements of Hampshire College’s driver credentialing policy.  Candidate must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
