Hampshire College, an independent, innovative, liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a kitchen manager to oversee all culinary functions for dining services. 

The kitchen manager will lead a team of associates and oversee all safety and sanitation. This position will work directly with the department director and assistant director to implement innovative concepts and theme meals. The manager will be directly involved with purchasing and inventory management for dining services, that is, they will order all products and ensure the accurate receiving and accounting of goods. They will oversees execution of all planned dining service menus to a high standard including but not limited to, the Dining Commons, Bridge Café and The Kern Kafe. The manager cooks and prepares food for catered events by following event menus, and using approved recipes and production standards. Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders, opening times, and event times. The kitchen manager works with supervisors to train team members on environmental health and safety protocols and responsibilities, including proper hand washing technique, norovirus prevention, bio hazard clean-up, proper food storage and labeling, and other departmental requirements. This position supervises hourly food service associates in the Dining Commons, as well as provides constructive feedback to all team members

Associate degree or equivalent with a minimum of five years job-related experience are required; Serv-Safe certification is also required. Successful candidate must have a strong passion and motivation to create great food; a solid working knowledge of kitchen practices, protocols, and procedures; and ability to communicate extremely well with a diverse team and our guests. Candidate must possess the patience to teach and lead a team of various abilities in such a way as to produce high quality, nutritious meals. Must be passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism. This position requires a valid driver’s license and must successfully meet the requirements of Hampshire College’s driver credentialing policy.
