Pay Range/ Status: $19.00 - $22.00 Hour / Non-Exempt

Location: Hampshire College Campus in Amherst, MA

Reports to: Auxiliary Services Director

We provide residential undergraduate education to nearly 600 students. Each department at Hampshire College contributes to the collaborative culture of the organization and plays an important role in the success of the College.  Our campus store provides students, faculty, and staff a place on campus to fulfill their needs for food, supplies, and spirit wear.  As the leader of the campus store team, you will have a vital role in the department achieving its mission and goals!

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Executes and provides leadership and oversight for all facets of campus store operations including: hiring, training, supervising, developing and motivating of store staff; preparing and executing store operating plans; establishing and enhancing strong campus relations; maintaining a high-level of customer service throughout the store; and completing other necessary store activities, as needed.  Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.

  • Retail management or strong customer service experience
  • Academic retail experience
  • Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer service, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen
  • Advanced relationship building
  • Demonstrated ability to influence a team and customer outreach
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Demonstrates skill in understanding of cultural differences
  • Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent is required
  • Three years of job-related experience is required

Alternatives to formal education and paid work experience may be considered as equivalent qualifications to include military service/training, volunteering, activism, and other non-traditional programs and experiences related to the position.
