Pay Range/ Status: $52,000 - $62,000 / Exempt

Location: Hampshire College Campus in Amherst, MA

Reports to: Senior Director of Budgets and Planning and Senior Director of Accounting

Anticipated Start Date: October 7, 2022

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The financial analyst position reports jointly to the senior director of accounting and the senior director of budgets and planning. The financial analyst is responsible for investment and endowment accounting, reconciling the gift system to the general ledger as well as working leading up to and including the generation of financial statements.  In addition, this position provides back-up support for the staff accountant and senior accountant. The financial analyst assists the senior director of budgets and planning with the annual budget process, as well as ad hoc budget analysis and reporting.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, extensive experience with large integrated accounting systems (Colleague and/or Informer a plus), MS Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Reconciles gifts and reviews and resolves discrepancies with development office.
  • Works with budget managers and business office employees to identify coding and resolve coding discrepancies related to expenditures.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent in accounting, business or relevant work experience
  • Minimum two years of job-related experience

Alternatives to formal education and paid work experience may be considered as equivalent qualifications to include military service/training, volunteering, activism, and other non-traditional programs and experiences related to the position.
