Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for the position of assistant professor of comparative literature, beginning July 1, 2015.

We seek candidates with a broad training, proficient in two languages besides English, who are qualified to teach introductory and upper-level comparative literature classes that productively engage with history, religion, philosophy, theory and/or the arts.  The candidates’ teaching and research interests should demonstrate an appreciation for the intercultural, multi-disciplinary, and comparative nature of the field.  The successful applicant will be expected to teach two courses per semester, to develop a professional profile, to supervise independent work and advise students, and have a commitment to college service. PhD required at time of appointment.
