Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for an alumni and family relations officer in the Office of College Advancement. This position is a specially funded five year position.

The alumni and family relations officer will cultivate philanthropic support for Hampshire College by building and strengthening relationships with a diverse base of alums and parents. Under supervision of the director of alumni and family relations, the officer will oversee the creation and staffing of 2-3 regional alumni councils, recruit volunteers, and support regional events, and promote participation in annual fundraising challenges. The officer will conduct outreach and personal visits to engage targeted alumni and parents. This position also will be responsible for coordinating arts affinity programs, managing alumni recognition and awards programs, and staffing on-campus and regional events as needed. Regular cross-country travel to assigned regions is required.

A bachelor’s degree with three years of job related experience is required. Candidate must have a demonstrated ability to recruit, engage and manage volunteers; experience in building and supporting volunteer or alumni organizations preferred. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to build and strengthen relationships with diverse constituents; comfort with fund-raising; and ability to work collaboratively with gift officers, annual fund staff, and other Advancement staff. In addition, candidate must have attention to detail; an ability to keep multiple projects and priorities on schedule; and be able to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team. A willingness to work evenings and weekends, with significant travel is required. This position requires a valid driver’s license and candidate must successfully complete the Hampshire College Defensive Driving Training Course.
