Hampshire College, an innovative interdisciplinary liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a program director. This is a four-year position with continuation pending future funding

The program director has primary responsibility for implementing the Leadership and Ethical Engagement Project (LEEP), ensuring the strategic interaction among faculty, students, and campus-based centers and programs to bring ethical leadership, community engagement, and a focus on the common good to the forefront of Hampshire's educational experience, including the first-year Campus-Engaged Learning Activity.  Working with the assistant dean of community engagement and an interdisciplinary steering committee, the program director will develop and manage programmatic activity, communications and program outreach, evaluation, and planning work.  The program director will also work closely with the Office of Institutional Advancement to support ongoing fundraising for the intiative and stewardship of project funds. The program director is responsible for achievement of project goals and objectives; compliance with College policies; and financial, program and administrative management, including supervision of project staff.

Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred, with a minimum of five years job-related experience. The ideal candidate will have some background in ethics and common good thinking and practice, demonstrated ability to develop, plan and implement programs, and have excellent communication, supervisory, and organizational skills. Advanced word processing and data entry skills using Microsoft programs (especially Word and Excel) and Google documents; experience and comfort using spreadsheets and databases; experience and comfort using social media to organize and engage project participants; and the ability to assess and implement new software is required.  Familiarity with project management software, online calendaring, and design software such as InDesign a plus. Stewardship of donors and grant-writing experience is desireable; supervisory experience is helpful. This position entails the ability to work at the intersection of academia and community partnership work and requires the ability to prioritize among multiple projects. A flexible work style and a high ability to collaborate effectively with offices across campus are necessary. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
