Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a potential opening of area coordinator.

The area coordinator is an active and visible live-in professional staff member who provides leadership and supervision support for a residential community of approximately 200 - 400 students.  The Area Coordinator creates community inclusive of diverse populations; provides non-clinical counseling; takes part in after-hours emergency response rotation; plans academic and social programming; supervises student residential staff; enforces policy; and administers housing procedures. Qualified candidate must be able to respond to emergency and crisis situations.

A graduate degree with a minimum of one-year of job-related experience is required; previous experience with community development and programming in a residential setting is strongly preferred. Successful candidate will have an Understanding of Student Development Theory ; strong supervisory and problem-solving skills;  have an attention to detail for budget tracking; and have experience with computer programs and social media applications. Candidate must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule. This position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to go up and down stairs. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

This is a full time benefited position with an employment cycle of 11 or 12 months dependent on eventual vacancy. We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits program.
