Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a program assistant for campus leadership and activities in the student life division.

The program assistant works closely with students, supporting them in all stages of their event planning process; space logistics, budgeting, policy compliance, advertising, and use of college resources.  Duties include administering the on-line student event registration and notification process using experience and discretion to ensure campus activities are appropriate and properly supervised; purchasing goods and services for student groups through the College’s purchase order system; and developing and maintaining office print materials, web pages and calendar, and social media networks. The program assistant collaborates with the assistant dean of students/director and assistant director in the planning, organizing, and staffing of campus leadership and activities sponsored programs, as well as works in partnership with a variety of student life and other Hampshire offices to support the daily programming initiatives of students. The program assistant contributes to the daily customer service needs of students in the campus leadership & activities office; regularly meets with student group leaders to provide support for group development; and provides leadership development opportunities for student leaders. 

Bachelor’s degree with one year of job-related experience is required or an equivalent combination of education and event planning experience. Previous experience working in higher education and/or working with college students, co-curricular program planning, and working with student organizations is highly desirable.  Qualified candidates must have excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Applicants must be computer proficient to maintain the CLA website and communication tools, and have knowledge of social media. Graphic design ability and coordinating community advertising campaigns is a plus. Candidate must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Demonstrated success working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential. This position may include evening and weekend hours.
