Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a community advocacy program coordinator in the student life division.

The community advocacy program coordinator develops and organizes programs to further the mission of the department of Community Advocacy, as well as provides administrative support to the department and assistant dean.   Community Advocacy includes multicultural & international student services, queer student services, spiritual life, wellness, and women’s services.   The program coordinator will advise the Community Advocacy student group and oversee the group’s projects; supervise Community Advocacy student workers; and assist in overseeing programs and events.  The program coordinator will represent the department in various capacities.  The program coordinator will be responsible for the budget and purchasing management for the department and its reporting offices; coordinating mailings, schedules, and calendars; drafting and editing correspondence for Community Advocacy and the Cultural Center; updating online information and posting to social media accounts; event planning, logistics, advertising; and other duties as required.

Bachelor’s degree with minimum of one year job-related experience is required. Candidate should have project management and event planning skills as well as previous experience with budget management. The ideal candidate should possess strong student service orientation, an ability to respond well to crisis situations, and must be able to act and determine direction in ambiguous situations. A demonstrated ability to discern situations that necessitate confidentiality is a must. Qualified candidates must be computer proficient, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Experience working with diverse populations and with issues related to under-represented populations preferred. Previous experience working in a college/university setting is a plus Work schedule may include occasional evening and weekend hours. This position requires a valid driver’s license and candidate must successfully meet the requirements of Hampshire College’s driver credentialing policy.

This is an 11-month, 35-hour per week benefited position, which holds an employment cycle of August 1st through June 30th.  We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefit package.
