Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution, is seeking a student success alumni fellow to join the Knowledge Commons in the Harold F. Johnson Library.   This is a one-year, grant-funded position with possibility of continuation dependent on future funding.

Reporting to the knowledge commons coordinator, the student success alumni fellow, in collaboration with the director of the office of accessibility resources and services in the Center for Academic Success and Advising (CASA), will establish, develop, and maintain resources and services aimed at enhancing student success. They will play a key role in developing a supportive community through which to share resources and student success strategies in innovative and engaging ways, including developing a peer-mentoring program and creating accessible, electronic resources for a-synchronous, online delivery in addition to synchronous in-person meetings and workshops. The alumni fellow will be committed to help develop a community of academic practice within the library, and helping students gain access to the array of resources colocated in the Knowledge Commons (research librarians, instructional technology, media services, archives, writing center, transformative speaking program, and quantitiative resource center.) The goal is to create a rich environment for  undergraduates to easily access services, and referrals between the resources are seamless.

A recent bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College, awarded between May 2013 and May 2016, is required. The ideal candidate will have experience and a knowledge base in the following areas: background in education, psychology, disability studies, student development or related field; familiarity with the Hampshire curriculum and deomonstrated success navigating the landscape of the Hampshire academic programs; individual coaching for academic, personal and interpersonal development/motivational interviewing; facilitation experience: workshops, learning groups/communities; and working knowledge of Universal Design for Learning and holistic teaching pedagogy. The alumni fellow should possess basic knowledge of accessibility as it pertains to electronic IT and physical spaces; comfort using Microsoft Office, video production software (ex. camtasia) with some experience with assistive or learning technology; and program assessment and data collection experience. Proficient  writing skills, social media strategy, interpersonal skills, project management, organization skills, and self-motivating is a must. Demonstrated ability to adapt to a diverse student population and programmatic needs, as well as a commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds, and empowering students of all abilities is essential. This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours.
