Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a financial assistant in the campus leadership and activities office.

The campus leadership and activities (CLA) financial assistant performs a variety of duties in support of the student officers of the Funding Committee (FundCom) of the Hampshire Student Union (HSU).  The financial assistant provides fiscal management of the Student Activities Fund (SAF) in collaboration with the FundCom officers and assistant dean; manages the administration of FundCom's internet-based resources; and prepares for the fall and spring student group funding cycles. The financial assistant purchases goods and services for student groups utilizing an office purchasing card or through the College's integrated database system to create and process purchase orders and requests for payment. This position assists with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, forms, and systems in cooperation with the assistant dean, assistant director, and FundCom. The CLA financial assistant responds to inquiries from students and staff concerning funding policies/guidelines and application processes.

An associate's degree or equivalent is required with three years of job-related experience. Previous experience with fiscal management and budget development strongly preferred.  Successful candidate must be highly organized with acute attention to detail; have customer service training or experience; able to problem-solve difficult financial transactions in a timely manner; and manage multiple priorities.  The CLA financial assistant must be proficient with computer applications such as MS Word/Excel; Datatel experience is highly desirable.  A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

This 10 1/2-month, 35-hour per week benefited position has an employment cycle of August 1st through June 15th, and holds a grade 2 in the Hampshire College staff salary grading schedule.
