Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for an associate director of institutional research to provide support with institutional planning, student success, and upper administration.

Reporting to the associate vice president of academic affairs and under the guidance of the vice president of academic affairs, the associate director of institutional research (ADIR) will conduct research and analysis, produce reports and presentations to inform planning and decision making, and serve on various committees as assigned. The ADIR is responsible for analyzing complex data sets by using research methods, quantitative and qualitative analysis, statistical techniques; submitting accurate data to government agencies and the media; responding to internal and external requests for institutional data, including the completion of surveys and required reports for federal governmental agencies and non-governmental organizations; maintaining archival institutional research data in easily accessible formats, and assisting in the development and analysis of institutional key performance indicators and outcomes. The ADIR will work closely with the dean of enrollment and retention, director of central records, and the associate vice president of academic affairs in determining and prioritizing research needs, designing research protocols and data collection methods, analyzing data, preparing reports and presenting data to both internal and external audiences. 

An advanced degree with a minimum of three years job-related experience is required. Qualified candidate must have a high level of computer competency including advanced Excel skills as well as excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, organization and presentation skills. This position requires knowledge of national context of/for liberal arts education, federal and consortial data-sharing conventions, regional accreditation requirements, and educational practices at similar institutions across the country; knowledge of trends in higher education is preferred. Experience with statistical modeling, reporting solutions, and statistical software such as SPSS; quantitative research methods and statistics, quality, program productivity and evaluation of institutional programs and initiatives; and knowledge of contemporary reporting tools (Qualtrics preferred) and integrated institutional database software (Ellucian/Colleague preferred) are necessary. The associate director must have the ability to summarize and present data effectively including the use of tables and charts with accuracy and efficiency, along with a minimum three years’ experience with college institutional research reporting and data definitions (IPEDS, AAUP, CDS, etc.). Individual must be energetic and have a sense of humor. A commitment to working with people from diverse back grounds is essential.

This full time, benefited position holds a grade 7 in the Hampshire College staff salary grading schedule.
