Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution, is seeking a media alumni fellow to join the Knowledge Commons in the Harold F. Johnson Library. This is a one-year, grant-funded position with possibility of continuation dependent on future funding.

Reporting to the knowledge commons coordinator, the media alumni fellow, in collaboration with the manager for advanced media, will focus on supporting the development of interdisciplinary student and faculty multimedia work that brings theory – from across the college curriculum – to life. The alumni fellow will provide support for student media and technology making, editing and “doing” through training on hardware and software as well as access to equipment and laboratory space. The fellow will liaise with partner resources in the Knowledge Commons to expand the presence of assistive and instructional technology, audio and video post-production, gaming, TV studio and green screen, hacking, installation and design consultations, support digital platforms, digital humanities, and blended learning. Support for these areas will include marketing, including online and social media; development of technology tools and instructional materials; and training and supervising student employees as peer mentors.

A recent bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College, awarded between May 2013 and May 2016, is required. The successful candidate must have technical skill in audio and visual production and post production; technical skill in contemporary making technologies that include 3D printers, scanners, Arduinos, etc.; knowledge of film, animation, and audio production; and strong organizational skills. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds and empowering students of all abilities is essential. This position carries the possibility of flexible hours and/or evening shifts.
