Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium is accepting applications for director of strategic budgeting and analysis.

The director of strategic budgeting and analysis (DSB&A) will lead the College through the creation of a budget system that addresses the College's needs and provides the highest level of transparency and accountability.  The DSB&A will provide support to all divisions in the creation of budgets that align to the College's strategic plan, as well as provide analysis for all key college auxillary and support services to determine effectiveness and viability.  The DSB&A will seek to engage the campus community in a formal, articulated and publishable budget effort, which include the on-going monitoring of budgets.  Additional responsibilities will include the preparation and execution of the annual operating budget and the compilation and integration of all related and necessary statistical data.  The DSB&A will develop budget guidelines, analyze trends, and recommend financial strategies. The director of strategic budgeting and analysis will oversee by supervising the financial analyst, all accounting and record-keeping activity related to the College’s endowment funds including monitoring and reporting of investment performance, maintenance of unitized accounting database, remittance of gifts proceeds, determination of pooled investment’s market and share values, calculation of total return and assessment of budget impact. This position will supervise business office staff as assigned. 

A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years job-related experience is required. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to understand and synthesis complex financial performance data and present same to campus constituency.  The director will have intensive knowledge of accounting, finance and policy development; a willingness to explore new and innovative methodologies; and an understanding of electronic financial systems. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including effective and professional verbal and written communications with a diverse range of audiences; excellent organizational and independent working skills, in addition to being a team player; and an ability to work in a fast paced environment are required. The DSB&A must have effective decision making skills and strong customer service experience; effective public speaking and presentations skills; demonstrated administrative and supervisory skills; and ability to maintain high accuracy and work quality standard.  The successful candidate must be able to maintain confidentiality as well as work with confidential information. A high level of computer competencies with MS office applications is also required. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential. Offer of employment will be contingent upon a successful financial and complete background check, which will include a criminal record investigation.
