Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a part time payroll assistant.

Reporting to the assistant controller, the payroll assistant is responsible for processing the College's monthly payroll and various personnel transactions. Duties include updating quarterly tax spreadsheets and quarterly payroll reports; performing administrative duties including records maintenance and responding to payroll inquiries; assisting with year-end payroll reporting; and serving as a backup for bi-weekly and student payrolls. This position will assist with human resources duties as needed.

Associate’s degree with a minimum of two years job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.  Qualified candidate must have a minimum of one year of payroll experience with proven ability working with a computerized ERP system. The payroll assistant must have proficient computer skills with word processing, Excel spreadsheets, and data entry; exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy; strong verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

This 12-month, 20-hour per week benefited position holds a grade 2 in the Hampshire College staff salary grading schedule. The work schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, 10 am -2 pm; some flexibility may be possible.   We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefit package.
