Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution, is accepting applications for an assistant director for international student recruitment and admissions.

Under the supervision of the director of multicultural and international student services (MISS) and the dean of enrollment and retention, the assistant director for international student recruitment and admissions provides multiple responsibilities related to the development of Hampshire’s international and student of color community and the daily operations for the office of multicultural and international student services and admissions office.  As a Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO), the assistant director offers ongoing F-1/ J-1 visa advising to degree-seeking international students regarding current U.S. immigration policy and institutional policies; and works collaboratively with campus offices regarding federal immigration regulations and international student life needs. This position provides programming focused on the integration of U.S. racial justice education with international education, as well as programming to support the retention of students of color and international students. The assistant director offers administrative support for the Lebron-Wiggins-Pran Cultural Center, acts as the director in their absence, and works independently on assigned projects. The assistant director for international student recruitment and admissions serves as the primary admission counselor for international students, reads admission files for international students, and takes part in limited recruitment events and travel up to four weeks per year.

Master's degree in college student development, adult education, higher education administration, social justice education or international studies, or multicultural education field required; recent international student advising experience and knowledge of current non-immigration regulations and SEVIS procedures as they apply to foreign nationals in F and J status essential. Minimum of three years proven experience within the multicultural and international student affairs/services or related field also required. Candidates are required to demonstrate significant past experience advising, programming, facilitating large groups, and understanding of issues related to students of color and international students and other intersectional identities. Ideal candidate should have experience with programming, facilitating large groups, and understanding of issues of under-representation particularly multicultural education in an international context. The assistant director must be able to resolve complex non-immigration issues; be committed to understanding the needs of a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff and able to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds; have excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills; attention to details; ability to handle multiple responsibilities; and experience with word processing and databases. The assistant director for international student recruitment and admissions must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident in order to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) according to federal regulations.  This position requires occasional evenings and weekends, as well as the ability to travel internationally.  Candidate must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
