Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for an advancement assistant to the gift officers in the office of college advancement.

The advancement assistant to the gift officers provides a full range of administrative support, travel coordination, and project assistance to the director of annual giving, associate directors of development for leadership giving and the individual giving officers (hereafter known as gift  officers), all of whom travel extensively. This position assists the gift officers in their work cultivating relationships with prospective donors and facilitating various special funding initiatives. The assistant manages travel arrangements and trip planning and coordinates meetings and events with faculty, staff and donors. The assistant also will draft correspondence, perform data entry and reconcile expense reports.

An associate’s degree or equivalent is required with a minimum of two years’ job-related experience. The successful candidate will have proficiency with Microsoft Word applications and data entry; excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with  attention to detail; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to be pro-active and to prioritize tasks on an ongoing basis; and experience in managing sensitive correspondence. The assistant  must be able to handle multiple tasks smoothly and competently; work under tight deadlines;  and be able  to learn, master, and keep abreast of College-wide automated scheduling systems as they are adopted and/or upgraded. Travel planning experience is a plus. Candidate must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. Occasional night and weekend hours during special events may be required. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

This 12-month, 35 hour-per-week, benefited position holds a grade 2 in the Hampshire College staff salary grading schedule.
