Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a school administrator to provide high level support to the dean in the School of Natural Science.

Working with the dean, the school administrator is responsible for overseeing and managing the activities of the School of Natural Science (NS), taking an active role in implementing decisions made with or by the dean, and advising and consulting with the dean in planning, budget, and policy development. The school administrator oversees the operations budget; provides project management and administrative support services for faculty and staff members in the School of Natural Science; and liaises with other College administrative offices as well as with other offices in the Five Colleges.   This position is responsible for the supervision of the shared Natural Science/Cognitive Science grants administrator.

A bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience with a diverse administrative background is required. Qualified candidate must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational and problem-solving skills. Candidate must have advanced business software competency to actively manage and communicate about budget, curriculum tracking, and scheduling, including but not limited to word processing, Excel spreadsheets, calendar, email, and Colleague or similar software; ability to learn new software and embrace updates to existing software is a must. The school administrator must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced, complex setting; demonstrate flexibility and ability to exercise independent judgment; coordinate varying deadlines; and should possess a high level of sensitivity, particularly in working with confidential information. The successful candidate will provide counsel and support for the faculty and staff of NS; they must be adept at managing crises.  A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds, and empowering students of all abilities is essential.

This 12-month, 35-hour per week benefited position holds a grade 4 in the Hampshire College staff salary grading schedule. We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefit package.
