Center for Teaching and Learning Alumni Fellow - One-Year position- Part Time

Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution, is seeking a part time Center for Teaching and Learning fellow to join the Knowledge Commons in the Harold F. Johnson Library.   This is a one-year, grant-funded position with possibility of continuation dependent on future funding.

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) fellow reports to the associate librarian for Knowledge Commons, working in close collaboration with the Co-Directors of the Center for Teaching and Learning. The CTL fellow will help identify and develop pedagogical resources, improve the CTL's online and social media presence, share resources with faculty and students to aid learning, provide administrative support in terms of logistics, budget, and writing support for the CTL. The goal is to support the development of engaged teaching and scholarly community through recognition and support - by reporting practices, giving faculty easy access to resources and services, and sharing information about teaching, learning, and scholarship at Hampshire with faculty and students. In support of this goal and the goals of the Knowledge Commons, the fellow will be responsible for creating opportunities for teaching assistants (TA's) to gain familiarity with academic mentoring available through the Knowledge Commons. The fellow will pay special attention to TA's in First Year Tutorials.  The CTL Fellow will be involved in discussions with the Co-Directors of the CTL, with the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Education (ODME), with the library and with IT staff about shared resources, practices and policy and will be engaged in ongoing evaluation of program.  The fellow will be expected to work some evening hours, in coordination with the Knowledge Commons evening services, and may occasionally work weekend hours.

A recent bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College, awarded between May 2014 and May 2017, is required. The ideal candidate will have experience with web applications such as Wordpress and Qualtrics; proficient writing skills, social media strategy,  interpersonal and communication skills; organization skills; self-motivation; ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data; and effective project management skills with the ability to prioritize work across projects. Skill in basic audio/video editing is preferred, as is basic understanding of instructional design/creation of instructional content. The fellow must be able to set goals and priorities for their own work, develop and keep a work plan, as well as have experience having been a teaching assistant.A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
