Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for an associate director of alumni and family relations in the office of college advancement.

The associate director of alumni and family relations is responsible for all aspects of programming for alums and families, including but not limited to family orientation, Family and Friends weekend, reunions and Div IV, and local, national and international events. Working with a high level of independent skill and judgment, this position is responsible for establishing event strategy and overseeing programs from conception to actualization and post-program assessment, including overseeing event communications. The associate director will have a special focus on increasing engagement among alums of color, and will partner across the institution to enhance communications and engagement with current parents. They will advise the director on strategic goals and long-range planning for the unit, and work closely with colleagues across advancement, faculty, high-level donors and volunteers to increase engagement among alums, families, and friends of the College. This position will play a key role in Hampshire’s upcoming 50th Anniversary programming. Regular and cross-country travel is required, with occasional evenings and weekends to staff events.

A bachelor’s degree with minimum of five years’ job related experience is required.  The ideal candidate must have excellent project management and interpersonal communication skills with a commitment to customer service. Event planning experience required. Must be adept at competently and calmly handling multiple concurring tasks. Successful candidate must have excellent Microsoft office skills; be a strong writer with capacity to tailor message to multiple audiences; and be able to work as a key leader in the unit and collaborate with senior administration, faculty, and staff across campus.  A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential. Candidate must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. This position requires a valid driver’s license and must successfully meet the requirements of Hampshire College’s driver credentialing policy.

This full time, benefited position holds a grade 7 in the Hampshire College staff salary grading schedule and requires regular travel with occasional evenings and weekends.
