Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for an advising office assistant in the Center of Academic Support and Advising.

The advising office assistant supports the deans in the Center of Academic Support and Advising (CASA) by providing confident and knowledgeable first response to students, faculty, parents, and college personnel. The assistant screens requests to meet with deans of advising and director of accessibility resources & services (OARS) ensuring an efficient work environment which include resolving scheduling conflicts and accommodating meetings that are urgent in nature and difficult to schedule with very little notice. Additional duties include maintaining website to reflect changes in policy and procedures; composing and editing correspondence to faculty and students relating to deadlines, processes, and procedures; monitoring and managing CASA email account; editing and proofing confidential academic contracts for CASA deans; and general office duties. This position will be responsible for the hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising student office assistants.

Associate’s degree or an equivalent with a minimum of two years job-related experience is required. Qualified candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, ability to make decisions independently based on policies and procedures, and handle sensitive situations with discretion and confidentiality. Ability to compose correspondence, and have excellent organizational skills with attention to detail also required. Candidate should have familiarity with an integrated database system. The advising office assistant must  be flexible and comfortable with change and able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment, be able to manage multiple priorities, and work as both part of a team and  independently.  A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

This 35 hour-per-week, benefited position holds a grade 2 in the Hampshire College staff salary grading schedule. We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefit program.
