Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution, is seeking a media alumni fellow to join the Knowledge Commons in the Harold F. Johnson Library. This is a one-year, grant-funded position with possibility of continuation dependent on future funding.

The media alumni fellow, reporting to the advanced media coordinator and under the oversight of the director of the library and knowledge commons, will provide media production support to students in the use of the advanced media and simultaneously document instructional materials for how to use media labs resources for future students (including student peer mentors and media lab work study students) as part of the Knowledge Commons Peer Mentoring Program.  The fellow will provide support and training on hardware and software related to media production. The fellow will liaise with partner resources in the knowledge commons to expand the presence of: audio, video, web, interactive media, gaming, TV studio/green screen, hacking, rapid-prototyping, A/V installation and design, assistive and instructional technology, support digital platforms, digital humanities and blended learning. Support for these areas includes marketing all media labs workshops, and events; development of instructional materials and creating LibGuides for media labs resources. This position requires working Sundays through Thursdays 2-10 PM. During summer months and school breaks, hours shift to Mondays-Fridays 8:30-4:30PM.

A recent bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College, awarded between May 2014 and May 2018, is required. The successful candidate must have technical skill in audio and visual production and post production; technical skill in contemporary making technologies that include 3D printers, scanners, Arduinos, etc.; knowledge of film, animation, and audio production; and strong organizational skills. The fellow should have familiarity with the role of media production in the Hampshire curriculum and demonstrated success navigating the landscape of the Hampshire academic programs. Requirements will include good writing skills, social media strategy, interpersonal skills, project management, organization skills, self-motivation; openness and ability to learn new things and collaborate across difference; and an enthusiasm for helping others and a desire to influence positive personal and institutional change at Hampshire.
