Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for an associate director in the office of admissions.

The associate director of admissions is responsible for the management and full accountability for the successful development and execution of a major strategic portion of Hampshire College’s Admission Program. The associate director will work closely with admissions’ leadership to develop, articulate and execute a prospect management model (by territory) to recruit qualified students to Hampshire College. The associate director recruits and markets to students for the College’s undergraduate programs; conducts research and analysis; and helps develop strategic analyses such as enrollment trends and histories, market analyses, competitor institutions, and developing programs.  Working within the framework of the associate director’s strategic responsibility, this position will implement a territory, prospect management initiative that will matriculate exceptional Hampshire students and lead the recruitment process to build and sustain genuine, professional consultative relationships with prospective students.  The associate director will have an active role in supervising the admissions counseling staff and promoting a positive team-oriented work culture.

A bachelor’s degree is required with a minimum of five years of job-related experience; experience working in higher education is strongly preferred. Successful candidates will possess creativity, a high level of interpersonal communication skills, and strong computer and communication skills. Applicants should be results-oriented, energetic individuals who can work in a fast-paced environment with effective decision-making skills and customer service. Qualified applicants must be flexible and adaptable to changing environments; have effective public speaking and presentation skills; a belief in the value of a liberal arts education and passion for Hampshire's unique educational philosophy; and ability to knowledgeably communicate that uniqueness. They must be superbly organized; task and project oriented; and able to work independently while manage multiple tasks frequently without advance warning. The associate director must be comfortable navigating challenging conversations; have a commitment to being a part of the larger Hampshire community; be receptive to feedback; and able to take initiative to solve problems as they arise. Experience with the Technolutions Slate platform or a similar CRM is strongly preferred. This position requires a valid driver’s license and must successfully meet the requirements of Hampshire College’s driver credentialing policy.  Candidate must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
