Hampshire College, an independent, innovative, liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a Prescott Bakery Manager to oversee and implement the day-to-day operations of the Prescott Bakery.

The Prescott Bakery manager is responsible for maintaining high standards and conditions, and fostering a positive environment for bakery employees. The manager creates the tone and personality of the operation by being an advocate of training, customer service, product knowledge and education, encouraging safe work practices, and a demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality food and beverage options for the Hampshire College community.  This position oversees all catering operations of the Kern Kafe/Prescott Bakery operation by coordinating consistent, efficient, and friendly service and ensuring a quality experience for customers.  The bakery manager must have experience with local farms and maintain a commitment to working with the Hampshire College Farm Center. The manager for the Prescott Bakery must have a passion for culinary excellence and perfection.  This position holds supervisory responsibilities.

An associate degree with two years of job-related experience is required. Qualified candidate must have experience in food purchasing, production, and service, as well as possess ServSafe Certification. Excellent communication skills and customer service with commitment to quality and high expectations is a must. Candidate must be computer-proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. The bakery manager must be well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task; have effective problem solving/decision making abilities; be highly motivated and energetic; and demonstrate a high degree of judgment, problem solving and resourcefulness. This position will require frequent standing, and use of hands and arms; be regularly required to handle food and hot beverages; work with sharp objects; ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs; and to frequently bend and twist from the waist.
