Hampshire College is accepting applications for bartenders to join the team in our event services and summer programs office (ESSPO).

The bartenders will be responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at events in the Red Barn and various campus locations. Duties will include providing a welcoming presence at drink station by displaying bottles and glassware in an attractive manner; ensuring the bar area is fully stocked with beverages, paper products, and glassware; and making sure there is a proper supply of fresh fruit, garnishes, juices and other perishables for product quality. The bartenders will check guests at the bar for proper identification; practice portion control so customers are not overserved; and detect and act upon guests who are intoxicated as trained. Bartenders will be responsible for the handling of cash from guests, recording of charges, and securing bank. These positions require high cleanliness standards and ability to keep work area clean and organized.

A high school diploma or equivalent with two years of job related experience is required. Applicants must have bartending experience and possess ServSafe, Bartender, and TIPS certifications.  Bartenders must have demonstrated knowledge of liquor laws, and ability to adhere to state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests. Knowledge in the preparation of vegan, gluten free and allergy sensitive drinks is required.

Excellent communication skills and customer service with commitment to quality and high expectations is a must. These positions will require frequent standing, and use of hands and arms; be regularly required to handle food and hot beverages; work with sharp objects; ability to lift up to 35 lbs; and to frequently bend and twist from the waist. The bartenders must be well organized, detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and demonstrate a high degree of judgment, problem solving and resourcefulness.  A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential
