Hampshire College, an independent, innovative, liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a food service cook supervisor.

The cook supervisor oversees food services associates and confirms that they are following appropriate procedures. Duties include helping prepare and serve meals; remaining present during scheduled meal periods to receive customer comments and feedback; training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; advising on performance to Director;  suggesting rewards  and disciplines of associates to director; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and advising management of purchasing requirements with a focus on minimizing waste and avoiding product shortages. The cook supervisor will be expected to follow HACCP guidelines to ensure quality and safety of food supply; operate and clean equipment in accordance with department procedures after each use; maintain an atmosphere of respect and dignity; and follow principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment, ensuring corporate and OSHA safety standards are followed.

High School diploma or equivalent, technical certification, and two years of job-related experience are required. Qualified candidate must have experience in training and developing a team; prior cooking/food service experience in high volume setting; having a commitment to quality; and being ServSafe certified. Supervisor must be well organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task; have excellent verbal and written communication skills; and excellent customer service skills. This position will require frequent standing and use of arms and hands; ability to bend and twist at the hip; and be able to lift up to 35 pounds. This position requires the  handling of food, hot beverages, and  working with sharp knives. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

This is a 10-month, 40 hour/week benefited position with an employment cycle of August 1 through May 31. We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits program.
