Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for an assistant director of stewardship and donor relations in the office of college advancement.

The assistant director of stewardship and donor relations supports the College’s fundraising goals by developing and implementing an integrated program to thank, recognize, and engage donors across all levels of giving. This position is responsible for creating and distributing reports on the use of funds, working with colleagues across campus to ensure restricted funds are appropriately spent, collaborating across the advancement office to thank donors across communications platforms, and directing correspondence with endowment and planned gift donors. The assistant director will direct the production and dissemination of engaging impact reports, work with fundraising staff on appropriate stewardship plans for individual donors, and oversee naming and recognition policies.

The ideal candidate will be eager to join a growing team and work collaboratively to meet ambitious goals. A bachelor’s degree with two years of job-related experience is required. Qualified candidate must be a clear communicator, strong writer, and have experience representing an organization to donors, trustees, and other external stakeholders. Database experience required, including proficiency in Excel and Access. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, flexible, and an adept problem-solver with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to coordinate multiple projects. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills: tact, teamwork, good judgment, confidentiality, a sense of humor, and excellent strategic planning skills are required for success. Knowledge of basic bookkeeping in order to read and report on budgets as well as an understanding of financial accounting systems preferred. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
