Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a benefits coordinator to join our human resources team.

The benefits coordinator is responsible for the ongoing administration of the College’s benefit programs, including health and welfare, life, disability, FMLA/Leave administration, and retirement plans. Specific responsibilities include coordinating premium payments, billing reconciliation, contractual compliance, open enrollment, benefits communication, recordkeeping, reporting, and eligibility determinations. Additional duties include but will not be limited to:  Coordinating activities related to open enrollment for health and welfare benefits, sick bank enrollments/requests and other benefits-related project activities; oversee requests for accommodations made by employees pursuant to Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); and convene and chair the Sick Bank Committee as needed  The benefits coordinator will also serve on the College’s Benefits Advisory Committee (BAC) and the Retirement Plan Oversight Committee (RPOC). This position is responsible for organizing events such as new employee orientation, annual benefits fair, anniversary recognition program, and the Carol and Blair Brown employee recognition awards, all which require extensive communication with employees.  The benefits coordinator will assist human resources staff with special projects and other general administrative tasks throughout the office of human resources.

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of two years job-related experience is required. The successful candidate should be computer proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and web-based software. They need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills; possess strong customer service and organizational skills; and have the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a must. The benefits coordinator must remain current and carry out duties in a manner consistent with federal, state and local laws and regulations concerning retirement and benefits administration;  knowledge of employee benefits administration such as HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ERISA, 403B, AD&D, Long-Term Disability, and ACA is essential. Qualified candidate must have project management skills in order to track daily tasks and ensure deadlines are met or completed ahead of commitments; be detail-oriented; and able to educate employees on health and welfare benefits. The benefits coordinator will be expected to work professionally in a team-oriented environment and have a commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds.
