Food Service Cashier

Our Dining Services department provides high quality meal services to students, employees, and guests in the form of take-out, dining-in, and catering from multiple locations on campus. The food service cashier operates the Point of Sale system and assists the team as needed. Duties include providing service in all retail areas, including cashiering and line serving as needed; performing cashier duties using the POS system; and maintaining cash accuracy with receipts. The food service cashier will be expected to prepare or plate foods such as meats, vegetables, baked goods and desserts as needed; set up serving lines if needed; ensure temperatures are taken, recorded and within acceptable ranges; and notify the cooks if food temperatures are not within acceptable limits. They will be expected to set-up items for purchase on daily basis; keep refrigerator stocked and product rotated using the first-in, first-out rule; stock pantries with correct par levels of food items on a daily basis; record replenished amounts on floor stock form for each unit; and perform general cleaning duties which includes the removal of trash and garbage to designated areas. 

High School diploma or equivalent with one year of job-related experience is required. Qualified candidates must have experience with POS systems; the accurate handling of cash and credit card processing; and outstanding customer service skills and a desire to help others. These positions require standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time-up to 4 hours; ability to lift up to 25lbs; and being able to bend and twist from the waist. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

This 10-month, 40 hour/week benefited position has an employment cycle of August 1 through May 31. While the position is 40 hours a week, Dining Services employees have some flexibility with scheduling. The hourly pay rate for this position is $15.00 with excellent benefits program including health, dental, vision, an employee assistance program, a retirement plan, tuition benefits, and more!
