Pay Range/ Status: $47,000 - $50, 000 / Exempt

Location: Hampshire College Campus in Amherst, MA

Reports to: Director of Communications & Marketing

Anticipated Start Date: September 15, 2021

Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is located on a beautiful rural campus in Amherst, Massachusetts. We provide residential undergraduate education to nearly 600 students. Each department at Hampshire College contributes to the collaborative culture of the organization and plays an important role in the success of the College. The communications office provides professional skills in communications and marketing strategy, media relations, public information, editorial content, digital advertising, and creative services to promote the initiatives of the College and maintain a strong and compelling brand presence in the higher ed marketplace. As part of the communications team, you will be instrumental in the department achieving its mission and goals!

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The multimedia producer is an inspired videographer/photographer who will create a wide range of content—authentic, compelling, and steeped in Hampshire's visual and literary sensibility—to engage the College's varied constituencies and advance the business goals for admissions recruitment, student retention, development, alumni relations, brand impact, and more. The multimedia producer is a storyteller whose work will differentiate Hampshire in the marketplace and reach the heads and hearts of prospective students (as well as families, school counselors, and other influencers), alums, funders, the media, and other stakeholders and audiences. The multimedia producer will work closely with the communications team and colleagues/clients around campus to understand the goals of each project and the underlying strategies to achieve them.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Proficiency in filmmaking and still photography; digital video editing software (Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, etc.); graphic design tools (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).

Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong attention to details, ability to work in a fast-paced creative environment coordinating multiple projects, highly organized, willing to learn and adapt to changing needs and priorities, and capable of working harmoniously in teams.

Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.

Incorporates an anti-racist and anti-oppressive lens into regular practice. Promotes diversity, equity and inclusion activities.

Spanish/English fluency preferred.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent

Minimum of two years job-related experience

A valid driver’s license is required and must successfully meet the requirements of Hampshire College’s driver credentialing policy.

Minimal travel is required.

Alternatives to formal education and paid work experience may be considered as equivalent qualifications to include military service/training, volunteering, activism, and other non-traditional programs and experiences related to the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in in communications, journalism, or film making.
