Location: Hampshire College Campus in Amherst, MA

Reports to: Director of Dining Services

We provide residential undergraduate education to nearly 600 students. Each department at Hampshire College contributes to the collaborative culture of the organization and plays an important role in the success of the College. Our Dining Services department provides high quality meal services to students, employees, and guests in the form of take-out, dining-in, and catering from multiple locations on campus. Dining Services is a creative, collaborative, and positive work environment. As part of the Dining Services team, you will be instrumental in the department achieving its mission and goals!

The prep cooks prepare and serve sandwiches, salads, grab and go and other hot or cold food items as needed.  May also be assigned to cashier, dish wash, serve and prepare meals, Duties include obtaining daily production schedules and preparation requirements from the Chef. Prepares and packages the various grab and go items, sandwiches, desserts, etc. Prepares sandwich meats, cheeses, condiments and salads using approved production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control. Sets up grab and go case as needed ensuring temperatures are taken, recorded and within acceptable ranges; notifies supervisor if refrigerator temperatures are not within acceptable limits.

High School diploma or equivalent with two years of job-related experience is required. Must be ServSafe certified. Qualified candidates must be able to prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules. Must have commitment to quality, be well organized, detail oriented, and able to multi task, and able to interact in a pleasant manner with a diverse guest group. These positions require frequent standing, and bending from the waist, and proficiency handling knives. Candidates must be able to lift 30 pounds. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds is essential. These 10-month, 40 hour/week benefited position have an employment cycle of August 1 through May 31. While the positions are 40 hours a week, Dining Services employees have some flexibility with scheduling.
