Position Type: Full Time

Schedule: 40 Hours a week; 6:00 am to 3:00 pm

Pay Range/ Status: $18.00 Hour / Non-Exempt

Location: Hampshire College Campus in Amherst, MA

Reports to: Facilities Manager

Anticipated Start Date: January 24, 2022

We provide residential undergraduate education to nearly 600 students. Each department at Hampshire College contributes to the collaborative culture of the organization and plays an important role in the success of the College. The physical plant is responsible for maintaining the buildings and grounds on the College campus. This includes preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, landscaping, facilities management, snow removal, emergency response, and coordinating with other departments on campus to ensure efficient operations and property management. The physical plant is a service-oriented department, which provides support to students, employees, and other stakeholders. As part of the physical plant team, you will be instrumental in the department achieving its mission and goals!

 

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the facilities manager, this position leads the set-up (furniture, equipment, trash, and tents) and clean-up effort for internal college events and external rentals. The incumbent will coordinate with other departments, to include housing and event services, to ensure set-ups and moves happen efficiently and timely.The lead event set-up specialist also is a key project lead in the turnover of dorms and mods for summer programs, and may direct other custodial maintenance projects as needed. This position will both work independently and lead project teams of varying size, depending on the needs of the event, and will also work closely with special programs staff. The lead event set up specialist also assists with other facilities department projects and tasks as necessary to support the work of the department. This position is essential to student and community service and experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Must be computer literate and comfortable with mobile interfaces.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must successfully meet the requirements of Hampshire College's driver credentialing policy.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and give written and verbal instruction in English.
  • Pre-employment physical with heavy lift test (50+ lbs) required.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Three years of job-related experience

Alternatives to formal education and paid work experience may be considered as equivalent qualifications to include military service/training, volunteering, activism, and other non-traditional programs and experiences related to the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive floor care experience preferred.
