Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for the position of human resources generalist.

Reporting to the director of human resources, the human resources (HR) generalist supports the department in all areas of responsibility including benefit administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance. Specific duties include the ongoing administration of the College’s benefit programs, including health and welfare, life, disability, worker’s compensation, FMLA/Leave administration, and retirement plans; organizing annual employee events; serving on various benefited-related committees such as the College’s Benefits Advisory Committee (BAC) and the Retirement Plan Oversight Committee (RPOC); and writing, maintaining and supporting a variety of reports for the ACA, EEO, and IPEDS. The HR generalist will partner with supervisors and staff to resolve performance or other issues; interpret, communicate and support compliance with HR policies and procedures and employment law; and encourage and implement proactive approaches to conflict resolution.  This position will provide recruitment training and advice, and support hiring managers and search committees throughout the search process.

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of three years job-related experience is required; PHR or SPHR certification is preferred. The successful candidate should possess a high level of computer competency with MS Office applications; have excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, organization and presentation skills; and strong mathematical aptitude, analysis skills and ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. The HR generalist must be able to maintain high accuracy and work quality standards; work in a fast-paced, customer focused environment; and possess a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and work with confidential information. A strong understanding of human resources processes and practices, as well as knowledge of federal and state employment laws is a must. Ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population is essential.
