Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for community development coordinator in the student life division.

The community development coordinator is responsible for developing, supporting and providing leadership in community building initiatives such as pre-orientation experiences, identity-based housing, living learning communities (LLCs), and the Campus-Engaged Learning (CEL-1) Program, with a focus on first year students. In addition, the community development coordinator will partner with academic affairs and collaborate with multiple programs, centers, offices and departments in assessing and developing a comprehensive engaged First Year Experience (FYE). Primarily working in concert with residence life and other student affairs staff, the community development coordinator will provide workshops, activities, and support to students around transitioning to college at New Student Orientation and throughout the first year. This role will also provide specific support to area coordinators and resident advisors (RA’s) in generating ideas for, supporting and implementing community building activities. This is a grant-funded position with continuation pending future funding.

A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of four years of job-related experience is required. Successful candidate must be a creative, resourceful, flexible team player with a commitment to high impact practices for a robust first year experience program.  Qualifications include demonstrated planning and implementation skills; knowledge of social media platforms; knowledge of and desire to engage in a variety of ongoing assessment strategies; and ability to set, manage, and meet deadlines. The community development coordinator must be able to collaborate with key campus partners and possess a demonstrated success in leading campus wide initiatives. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential. Candidate must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

This 35-hour per week, benefited position holds a grade 5 in the Hampshire College staff salary grading schedule. We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefit package.
