Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a digital strategy director and editor in the office of communications.

The digital strategy director and editor knows "all things digital communications" so we can make the most of the Hampshire brand and enable colleagues in admissions, advancement, academic affairs, student affairs, and other areas to achieve their business goals. Reporting to the chief creative officer and working closely with communications team directors, the digital strategy director and editor will lead communications team members and stakeholders across the College in efforts to engage their constituents and motivate them to act via social media platforms, digital marketing efforts, and related initiatives. The digital strategy director and editor will be versed in search engine optimization and related forms of reputation management; an expansive thinker; and a superb editor/writer, with deep understanding of "industry standards" of effective digital outreach and positioning.

A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in communications, digital rhetoric, or journalism, with a minimum of five years of job-related experience required. Qualified candidate will be a creative, resourceful, flexible team player with expertise and facility with web design (HTML/CSS), content strategy, CMS, data management, and other platforms. The digital strategy director and editor will have excellent planning and project management skills and have experience across multiple platforms including websites, social media, mobile; excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and public presentation skills; ability to set, manage, and ensure teams meet deadlines; and superb analytical and problem-solving skills in order to integrate fragmented content and processes across divisions. The successful candidate should be fluent in industry best-practice tools and techniques, including web accessibility standards and guidelines, have a sophisticated understanding of user behavior and testing, and able to apply insights to develop user-friendly experiences. The ability to work effectively and harmoniously with technical and nontechnical colleagues to successfully execute projects is a must. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential. This position requires a valid driver’s license and must successfully meet the requirements of Hampshire College’s driver credentialing policy.

This full-time, benefited position holds a grade 7 in the Hampshire College staff salary grading schedule and requires minimal travel. We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.
