Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for an advancement assistant to leadership giving and alumni and family relations in the office of college advancement.

The advancement assistant provides administrative support to the director of alumni and family relations (AFR) and two leadership giving officers. This includes collaborative work with other staff within the AFR team, supporting volunteer committees, scheduling, making travel arrangements and assisting with trip planning, preparation, and follow up. The advancement assistant is a key customer service role for the College, responding to phone, email, and walk-in inquiries from alums, donors, and offices across the College. They will supervise student workers to assist with daily support tasks and special projects. They will be responsible for drafting correspondence to donors and alumni, writing draft content for all-constituent emails and public web pages, and assisting with preparing mailings as needed. The position will work regularly with the constituent database and CRM system, including email communications and data entry.

An associates degree and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. The successful candidate will have computer expertise within a professional environment, including proficiency with Word, Excel, Access (or other relational database) and PowerPoint; the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities; strong organizational, interpersonal, writing, and oral communication skills; basic bookkeeping skills to process reimbursements; strong proofreading and copy editing skills. Occasional night and weekend hours during special events may be required. Travel planning experience preferred as well as experience in managing sensitive correspondence.  A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
