Kitchen Helper

Hampshire College, an independent, innovative, liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a kitchen helper in the Prescott Tavern Bakery.

The kitchen helper is responsible for assisting the bakery manager and cook with all kitchen tasks as needed.  Responsibilities include mixing and baking ingredients to produce breads, rolls, cookies, pastries, sandwiches, salads or other baked goods for the Kern Kafe, Hampstore Bistro, and other catering needs. The kitchen helper serves as a back-up barista when needed.

A high school diploma or equivalent with one year of job-related experience is required. Qualified candidate must have experience in food production; maintain high cleanliness standards consistently throughout the Prescott Bakery; and understand the preparation of vegan, gluten free and allergy sensitive foods. This position regularly requires  the handling of food, hot beverages, and work with sharp objects.  Candidate must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.  A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
