Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a grants administrator to support the Schools of Cognitive Science and Natural Science.

The grants administrator is responsible for managing grant budgets, expenditures, and reporting for faculty in the schools of Cognitive Science (CS) and Natural Science (NS). The administrator manages the budgets, awards, and reporting for external grants and endowed funds within the schools, communicates with the school deans, the business office, institutional advancement, and appropriate faculty within the schools, and maintains relevant school web pages. Additional duties include making travel arrangements for conferences and research and educational activities associated with grants, documenting and monitoring expenditures against grant budgets, and informing and assisting principal investigators with reports and other aspects of grant compliance. The grants administrator also provides office support for the school offices, as well as manages any weekly and occasional events for the Schools of Cognitive Science and Natural Science. This position is supervised by the NS School Administrator in consultation with the CS School Administrator.

An associate degree with a minimum of three years of job-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Ideal candidate must have experience with grant administration, particularly for government grants such as NSF, NIH; solid accounting knowledge, excellent budget management, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficient proofreading and language skills. Excellent  computer skills with Word, Excel, and Colleague, with aptitude for learning new programs and systems is a must.  The grants administrator will have high-level written, verbal, quantitative, interpersonal, and organizational abilities, and be able to function effectively with a large degree of independence and autonomy. Candidate must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and possess a commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds.
