Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution, is seeking a part time bookkeeper for the Civil Liberties and Public Policy program (CLPP). CLPP is a national program that inspires, educates and supports new activists and leaders to build a stronger and more diverse movement for reproductive justice and social change.

Under the direction of the CLPP executive director, the bookkeeper provides financial and clerical support for the daily operations of the Civil Liberties and Public Policy and Population and Development programs. Duties include accounting and reconciliation; processing of payments; accurate tracking of income and expenditures for various program reporting; maintenance of financial files and records; and training office staff on changes to office and college administrative and financial procedures and policies.

This is a grant-funded position with continuation pending future funding. An associate degree with two years of job related experience is required; bachelor’s degree is preferred. Qualified candidate must have advanced word processing and data entry skills using Microsoft programs (especially Word and Excel) and Google documents; ability to assess and implement new software; accounting and bookkeeping skills and familiarity with related software; good working relationship with college administrative staff; ability to relay information, messages and correspondence in timely and organized manner; experience and comfort using spreadsheets and databases; ability to assess and implement new software; ability to relay information, messages, and correspondence in timely and organized manner. Must be detail-oriented; able to handle high volumes of work; effectively prioritize, multi-task and problem solve; pay attention to deadlines and details; have good organizational skills; communicate clearly and confidently. This position requires someone who can work collaboratively with a diverse range of students, faculty, speakers, alums, and vendors;  be able to also work independently to forward CLPP’s mission and goals. A demonstrated ability to interact effectively and work successfully with persons of diverse backgrounds, including people with different racial, ethnic and class backgrounds, people of different genders, and people with disabilities is essential.
