Food Service Supervisor

Hampshire College, an independent, innovative, liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a food service supervisor.

The food service supervisor directs and participates in the activities of associates during a specific shift and oversees that assigned job expectations are completed while policy and procedure is maintained.  Duties include providing training and creating work schedules for student workers; evaluating the performance of workers, and recommending discipline of employees who fail to meet reasonable standards of work performance; opening and/or closing the unit following all set procedures; and ensuring the units meet the expectations for quality, productivity and safety. The food service supervisor will be expected to act as a mentor, develop employees and encourage workers to set goals and strive for advancement within the organization; maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers.

High School diploma or equivalent with two years of job-related experience is required. Qualified candidate must have a strong working knowledge of kitchen practices, protocols, and procedures. This position will require the patience to teach and lead a team of various abilities in such a way as to produce high quality, nutritious meals, as well as have a strong passion and motivation to create great food.  Candidate must be able to communicate extremely well with a diverse team and our guests; be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs; and to verify cash handling positions on a shift by shift basis. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

This is a 10-month, 40 hour/week benefited position with an employment cycle of August 1 through May 31. We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits program.
