Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for General Maintenance II for facilities and grounds.

General Maintenance II will perform routine and extensive range of work in the repair, renovation and general maintenance of college facilities, buildings, grounds and equipment under the lead worker in the assigned department as needed, including but not limited to carpentry, grounds, painting, plumbing electrical and HVAC support. 

A high school diploma or GED with a minimum of two years job related experience is required. Successful candidate should have general knowledge and understanding of building and grounds repair and maintenance work. Work is both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to unpleasant elements and a harsh environment such as extreme temperatures, wind, sunlight, rain, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, chemicals, etc. Candidate must be able to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) for an extended period of time; must be capable of wearing a full body harness for working at heights and in confined spaces; use ladders and lifts; and under certain situations may be required to wear a respirator.  This position requires a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and if assigned, a Class I Drivers License and/or a Hoisters License as required for specific equipment use. Candidate must successfully meet the requirements of Hampshire College’s driver credentialing policy. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
