Pay Range/ Status: $23.50 - $25.50 Hour / Non-Exempt

Location: Hampshire College Campus in Amherst, MA

We provide residential undergraduate education to nearly 600 students. Each department at Hampshire College contributes to the collaborative culture of the organization and plays an important role in the success of the College The office of central records (Hampshire’s Registrar’s Office) protects and maintains student academic records. We provide students with access to their academic records; communicate policies and procedures; prepare transcripts; schedule classroom space; certify enrollment and/or graduation; provide course registration for Hampshire and the Five Colleges; and prepare other college records and statistics. Our staff helps students navigate TheHub, the web portal interfacing with the college database. Central records staff are crucial team members who help the community perform these tasks as seamlessly as possible.


The course scheduling and registration specialist reports to the registrar. This position is responsible for creating all course sections; course registration set-up; course scheduling; assigning rooms and duties that fall within the College's parameters on course planning and scheduling. The specialist will work closely with the registrar to make sure they follow FEPRPA regulations. The specialist will liaison with the academic deans and faculty with regard to all course registration information in compliance with deadlines; manages Five College registration for incoming and outbound students; performs data-entry support for various ad-hoc projects as well as regular data-entry tasks and provides general support for the central records office.

  • Maintain confidentiality according to FERPA regulations in all student-related matters.
  • Abitlity to work independently and under minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using centralized database.


  • Two-year college degree or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of job-related experience

Alternatives to formal education and paid work experience may be considered as equivalent qualifications to include military service/training, volunteering, activism, and other non-traditional programs and experiences related to the position.
