Pay Range/ Status: $75,000 - $85,000 / Exempt or Non-Exempt

Location: Hampshire College Campus in Amherst, MA

Reports to: Associate Director of IT for Infrastructure

Anticipated Start Date: September 1, 2022

The information technology department collaborates with the rest of the community to further the College’s mission, as well as providing a wide range of academic and administrative technology support and services to the Hampshire community. As part of the information technology (IT) team, you will be instrumental in the department achieving its mission and goals!

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

 The SIS project manager manages the project of rebuilding the front end to the Hampshire College academic program, which is essentially a custom SIS with a Colleague backend. This interface is referred to commonly as “evals”. This is a temporary 2-3 year position to support the rewrite of this interface and will end when the initial rewrite is complete.   

As part of the IT department, this position may work to support other department projects, tasks, and events as necessary and as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
  • Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Incorporates an anti-racist and anti-oppressive lens into regular practice.
  • An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to translate between end users and technical people
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent in computer science, business, or a related field
  • Three years of project management and related experience

Alternatives to formal education and paid work experience may be considered as equivalent qualifications to include military service/training, volunteering, activism, and other non-traditional programs and experiences related to the position.
