Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution, is seeking a communications and development specialist for the Civil Liberties and Public Policy (CLPP) program, a national project that equips and inspires new generations of leaders through campus-based education, real-world advocacy practice, and the skills to build a stronger, more diverse movement for reproductive freedom and social change.  

The communications and development specialist will be responsible for all communications projects and will help execute the annual development plan under the direction of CLPP's development officer. The specialist will initiate and manage media coverage for CLPP, its website and social media platforms; and produce online and print publications, outreach materials, videos and other new media projects to grow CLPP's profile and increase giving.  The specialist will participate in all fundraising activities including donor and public relations; develop email and printed communications for donor cultivation and stewardship; provide support in managing materials archives and CLPP database;  and facilitate special events. 

This is a 12 month, 35 hour per week grant funded position with continuation pending future funding.

A bachelor’s degree is required with a minimum of 3 years’ job-related experience. Candidate should have outstanding written, editing, interpersonal, and technology skills.  Previous experience should include website and social media management; advanced word processing and data entry skills using Microsoft programs; ability to assess and implement new software; and capacity to relay information, messages and correspondence in a timely and organized manner. Familiarity with design programs including video editing, PhotoShop, InDesign; and social media platforms including FaceBook and Twitter highly desirable. Strong time management skills, ability to meet deadlines, and manage and oversee editorial processes and communications projects are a must. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds as well as a commitment to CLPP’s mission is essential. This position requires occasional evenings and weekends.
