Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution, is seeking a holistic alumni fellow to join the Knowledge Commons in the Harold F. Johnson Library. This is a 10-month, grant-funded position with possibility of continuation dependent on future funding.

Reporting to the director of the office of accessibility resources and services (OARS) and the holistic learning program (HLP) in the Center for Academic Success and Advising (CASA), and in close collaboration with the director of the library and knowledge commons and the library, the holistic learning alumni fellow will establish, develop, and maintain resources and services aimed at enhancing student success. The fellow will create resources for the HLP toolbox (hamp.it/toolbox) and integrate HLP resources into a suite of library resources by migrating the toolbox resources to Library Resource Guides. The fellow will participate in the development of a peer-mentor training program specific to HLP as well as shared mentoring resources general to all partner programs (library research, instructional technology, media services, the art gallery, writing center, transformative speaking program, and quantitative resource center). The goal of the fellowship is to create a rich environment for undergraduates to easily access services, and experience seamless referrals between resources. The position requires working Sunday through Thursday 1-9 PM with flexibility for occasional events and programming throughout the semester. During summer months and school breaks, hours shift to Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30.

A recent bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College, awarded between May 2014 and May 2018 is required. The ideal candidate will have experience and a knowledge base in the following areas: An enthusiasm for helping others and a desire to influence positive personal and institutional change at Hampshire; openness and ability to learn new things and collaborate across difference; familiarity with the Hampshire curriculum and demonstrated success navigating the landscape of the Hampshire academic programs; individual coaching for academic, personal and interpersonal development/motivational interviewing; and facilitation experience such as workshops, learning groups/communities. The fellow should have a background in education, psychology, disability studies, student development or related field; working knowledge of Universal Design for Learning and holistic teaching pedagogy; basic knowledge of accessibility as it pertains to learning, electronic IT and physical spaces; and comfort using or ability to learn Microsoft Office, Excel, video production software (ex. camtasia) and assistive or learning technology (Dragon, Kurzweil,). Candidate must have good writing skills, social media strategy, interpersonal skills, project management, organization skills, and self-motivation. Program assessment, data collection, and ability to adapt to a diverse student population and programmatic needs are crucial. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds, and empowering students of all abilities is essential. The candidate must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
