Food Service Salad/Cold Food Prep

Hampshire College, an independent, innovative, liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for food service salad/cold food prep.

The food service salad/cold food prep ensures the preparation of all non-hot food items. Duties include preparing sandwich meats, cheeses, condiments and salads using approved production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control; stocking and replenishing deli/cold products and condiments following approved merchandising guidelines; and obtaining daily production schedule and preparation requirements from Chef. The food service salad/cold food prep will be expected to serve hot and cold items to customers; inventory and restock supplies and food products as needed; and maintain a clean, safe work environment to comply with sanitation, ServSafe and safety requirements. This position may also be assigned to table and dining area cleaning, ware washing, or trash removal.

High School diploma or equivalent with two years of job-related experience is required. Qualified candidate must be ServSafe certified. This position requires the ability to prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules; create or prepare meals for delivery with focus on quality, portion and presentation; and a commitment to quality. Candidate should be well organized, detail oriented, and able to multi task;  ability  to communicate in a pleasant manner with a diverse guest group is a must. Additional requirements are the the ability to lift 30 lbs; to withstand frequent standing and bending from the waist; and proficiency with the handling of knives. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

This is a 10-month, 40 hour/week benefited position with an employment cycle of August 1 through May 31. We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits program.
